ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Systems business has announced that Mack Trucks Inc is offering the Meritor SteelLite X30 lightweight brake drum on its CH, CX, CL, RB, and RD600 series models. The drums have a one-piece design with no weld seam, providing extra strength and durability. These truck models are used by truck operators in logging, dumping, mixers, refuse transfer, coal hauling, utility jobs, and stop-and-go hauls.
According to ArvinMeritor, the X30 brake drum is lighter than standard full-cast drums and is available on axles ranging from 34,000- to 46,000-lb GAWR. The drums, manufactured at the supplier's Franklin KY facility, are available in most popular wheel-end configurations and axle ratings as original equipment for new trailers and as retrofits for existing equipment.
The data code for the X30 brake drums for the CH, CX, CL, RB, and RD600 series models for front axles is 248 2000/247 2202; for single rear and tandem rear axles, it is 264 2000/263 2202.
