With recent reports proclaiming the LNG (liquefied natural gas) market will double over the next 10 years, anticipation is building for Strategic Research Institute's “LNG: Economics and Technology” conference to be held Jan 28-29, 2002, in Houston TX. The meeting will focus on trends, technology, transportation, and terminals within the United States LNG market, with a key area of focus being how LNG will be affected by fluctuating natural gas prices.

Chairperson Sara Banaszak, an economist from the Department of Energy, will give a state-of-the-industry address. Then will come presentations from terminal owners such as Williams, CMS, and Dynegy, and a perspective on the LNG carrier industry from Distribution Consulting Services, joint partner of H Clarkson & Co Ltd. Also featured will be presentations on floating production, storage, and off-loading and gravity-based structures; reducing costs through small-scale production facilities and peak shaving; and Transgas will discuss the LNG trucking industry and portable pipelines.
