Built by OPW Engineered Systems, the Kamvalok is a dry-disconnect coupling with a quick-connect-and-disconnect feature.

The spring-loaded coupler contains a built-in valve; the adapter contains a spring-loaded poppet to assure fast closing and a tight seal. Should the Kamvalok be accidentally disconnected while the lever on the coupler is in the open position and product flow is in progress, the poppet in the adapter will automatically close and the seal cylinder will immediately stop flow through the coupler. Spillage of more than a few drops of liquid is prevented. The 360° orientation of the coupling eliminates the need for swivels and simplifies connection.

When the bulk product is a volatile organic compound (VOC) and tends to evaporate quickly, Kamvalok keeps the product in the line and out of the air. If the product is of a corrosive, toxic, caustic or otherwise harmful nature, Kamvalok will reduce hazards involved in product processing. It will contain fugitive emissions, transfer VOCs without product or vapor loss, and help keep employees out of harm's way.

Connections and disconnections are achieved by closing and opening two cam arms that lock into a machined groove around the circumference of the mating adapter. There are no locating lugs or threads. After the Kamvalok adapter and coupler are firmly coupled together, the lever is turned to the open position, and product flows freely around the poppet discs. Even flow and low-pressure drop are achieved by a deflector built into the adapter, which reduces turbulence. Guiding fins within the coupler further assure even-flow characteristics.

The Kamvalok can be specified with:

  • Aluminum externals and components.

  • Aluminum with stainless steel internal parts.

  • All stainless steel.

  • Seals available in buna-N, Viton, Teflon, EPT, EPDM, EPR, Kalrez, Chemraz, or other compounds.

  • Locking or non-locking handle.

  • 3/4" (20 mm), 1½" (38 mm), 2" (50 mm), and 3" (76 mm) sizes, depending upon style and material.
