The competition is sponsored by the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce to celebrate outstanding achievements of Quebec businesses.

The Mercuriades awards mark the third major honor for a plant producing Kenworth trucks in the past few years. The Kenworth plant in Chillicothe OH was named Quality Magazine's Plant of the Year in the large plant category of more than 250 employees in 2006, and the Kenworth plant in Renton WA was honored with Assembly magazine's inaugural Assembly Plant of the Year Award earlier.

The Quebec Federation Chamber of Commerce represents a network of 162 chambers of commerce and 57,000 members in all sectors of the Quebec economy and territory.
