Tuesday, August 9, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a Threat Report to members of law enforcement that warned of an imminent Al Qaeda plot to use fuel trucks as vehicle borne improvised explosive devices in an effort to cause mass casualties.

Tuesday, August 9, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a Threat Report to members of law enforcement that warned of an imminent Al Qaeda plot to use fuel trucks as vehicle borne improvised explosive devices in an effort to cause mass casualties.

The report went on to specifically name New York, Chicago and Los Angeles as planned targets. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials are in the process of clarifying the credibility and reliability of the report and anticipate a significant downgrade of threat as initially reported.

DHS anticipates releasing an update regarding this matter in the immediate future.

The DHS further states that although this type of threat is always possible, it is not likely at this time.
