Green Star Products Inc, San Diego CA, has announced that its consortium of independent companies will begin construction of two demonstration algae-to-biodiesel production facilities in the United States and abroad.

The consortium has developed a patent-pending proprietary algae processing system and has assembled a seven-member research team that has been in operation at the University of Baja California in Ensenada, Mexico.

Algae eats carbon dioxide and can produce up to 60 times more oil per acre than traditionally used agricultural oil crops such as soybeans, corn, canola, and jatropha, the company said.
