Errors have been found in a hazardous materials list printed by the government. The Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA) is aware of the situation and is in the process of taking corrective action, according to Alan Roberts, president of the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council.
There are more that twenty errors in the hazmat list in Section 172.101 as printed in the government's CFR publication effective October 1, 2003, Roberts said. He pointed out that the errors are in the government publications and do not apply to commercial versions.
"Some of the errors are rather substantial, if taken literally by enforcement personnel," he said. "I have requested that Department of Transportation (DOT) enforcement personnel be made aware of the errors and am contacting the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance requesting notification of state enforcement agencies."
Some of the other errors include adhesives, coating solutions, extracts (aromatic), hydrocarbons (liquid), organochlorine pesticides, paint, paint-related materials, perfumery products, resin solutions, rubber solutions, tars (liquid), and wood preservatives (liquid).
