United Petroleum Transports Inc has appointed Daniel Strong vice-president and chief operating officer. He most recently served as vice-president of operations for USF Bestway.

Quality Distribution Inc has appointed Robert J Millstone senior vice-president and general counsel. Most recently, he served as senior vice-president and general counsel with PSC, a Houston TX-based industrial outsourcing, byproduct recovery, and metal recycling firm.

Distribution Technologies Inc (DistTech) has named Karen Rizzuto, formerly senior logistics analyst, to the newly created post of director of central logistics. She maintains offices at both DistTech's headquarters in Newbury OH and its Central Logistics office in Beachwood OH. Mike Maloney, also previously senior logistics analyst, was promoted to program manager for Degussa Construction Chemicals and will be based at the Beachwood office. Louis Turner has joined DistTech in the newly created role of regional manager. He previously was with GE Betz, most recently as North American transportation services manager. Corey Dix and Alan Manus have been promoted from logistics supervisors to logistics managers at DistTech terminals in Dayton OH and Denver CO, respectively. Greg McDonald, formerly operations manager for Houston Specialized Carriers, was hired as logistics manager for DistTech's Neville Island (PA) terminal. Andrew DeLao, a 20-year transportation veteran, joined DistTech as logistics supervisor for the company's Hayward CA terminal.

First Fleet Corp has appointed David R Cardew vice-president — syndications, a newly created position. He served most recently as vice-president — business development at GATX Technology Services Corp.

Joe Monroe has been named vice-president of sales for Ruan Transportation. Based in Georgia, he will be responsible for logistics supply chain business in the southeastern United States. Monroe most recently served as the vice-president of transportation and logistics for The Schwan Food Co.
