Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC has introduced the PuraGuard QC, an upgraded oil coalescing filter that protects the air system by removing excessive oil contamination from the supply air. The improved product features a quick-change, spin-on cartridge that requires no special tools.

The new PuraGuard QC unit has an oil removal efficiency of 90% or greater. For added convenience, the PuraGuard QC filter is easily interchangeable with the PuraGuard system filter. PuraGuard QC is particularly useful for high air demand applications such as vehicles making frequent stops, trucks equipped with high air usage components (lift axles, central tire inflation, bulk unloading), and buses with demanding, repetitive pneumatic operations.

Higher compressor duty cycles increase discharge temperatures and allow the oil to remain as a fine aerosol that can pass through the air dryer and condense downstream in air components. This condensed oil can cause critical valves and air-powered accessories to stick or even fail, resulting in reduced component life and increased vehicle downtime.

PuraGuard QC is installed immediately downstream from the air dryer to better capture oil aerosols and particulate as small as one micron in the air stream. The oil then collects in the sump portion of the unit for periodic drainage and proper disposal. The PuraGuard QC filter also has a patented, built-in bypass valve as an added safeguard to ensure continuity of supply air to the brake system in case the filter becomes clogged.
