Fargo Electronics Inc's new HDP820 card printer/encoder includes eight firmware upgrades, eight enhancements for card feeding, six printing and encoding improvements, and two serviceability modifications from the HDP720.

The HDP820 also offers Fargo's internal E-Card Docking Station — with one, two, or three e-card encoders — to manage emerging electronic card technologies such as:

  • ISO 7816 contact smart chips (read and write).
  • Mifare contactless smart chips (read and write).
  • HID proximity (“prox”) cards (read-only).

The E-Card Docking Station provides everything for an application program to communicate with from one to three specific types of e-card technology through a standard RS-232 interface. It can also be equipped with magnetic heads for ISO or JIS II magnetic stripe encoding. For further information, contact Fargo, 6533 Flying Cloud Dr, Eden Prairie MN 55344.
