Explosion rocks NOLA chemical facility

People still stranded in New Orleans LA were jarred awake at approximately 4:30 am September 2 by a massive explosion at a chemical storage facility on the banks of the Mississippi across from the French Quarter, according to law enforcement officials.

Several blasts occurred and were followed by a column of black smoke that was visible for miles.

The blast was felt in the city’s downtown.

No casualties were reported.

Police boats responded and a hazardous materials team was en route.
