The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued emission standards for oil and natural gas production facilities that include condensate tank batteries, glycol dehydration units, and natural gas processing plants, according to information published in the Federal Register January 3.
The rule (40 CFR Part 63) follows deferred action from a June 17, 1999, proposal addressing benzene emissions from triethylene glycol dehydration units. The final rule just issued also amends a general provision in the regulation to allow the use of an ASTM International standard as an alternative test method to EPA Method 18 in the national emission standards for hazmat pollutants from oil and natural gas production facilities. The rule became effective January 3.
