EPA extends comment period on onboard diagnostics

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the public comment period for certain parts of the agency's proposed heavy-duty new truck onboard diagnostics (OBD) requirements from March 26 to May 4, according to information published in the Federal Register March 22.

The agency is extending the period for comments pertaining to the proposed service information availability requirements for engines used in highway vehicles over 14,000 pounds. Those proposed requirements can be found in the proposed Sec. 86.010-38(j). (72 FR 3322).

EPA extended the comment period after a request from the Engine Manufacturers Association. Written comments must be received on or before May 4, 2007. For more information, click here for the Federal Register.
