Trucking issues that influence a carrier's operation include customer service requirements, driver recruitment and retention, and fuel costs, but having the appropriate electronic tools to address them can offset and ameliorate the situation, said Tom Weiss, TMW Systems board chairman, at the annual TMW User Group and Vendor Showcase October 22-25 in Chicago IL.
"The main issues continue to be constant and the same," he said, pointing out that predicting future problems is difficult. "You have to pay attention to the issues every day and work to control them."
Weiss told the more than 800 attendees that brokerage and intermodal services are quickly becoming essential to trucking operations. "They will become more of a necessity for you," he said.
