The Department of Transportation (DOT) is planning a public review April 12 and April 19 in Washington DC of the department's existing regulations and current regulatory agenda.
DOT will accept comments in writing until April 29. Those who wish to speak at the public meeting must submit their initial comments by February 25 and clearly indicate their desire to speak at the public meeting.
The department encourages all parties, including small businesses, trade associations, and other stakeholder groups affected by DOT regulations, to take advantage of the opportunity.
The meetings will be held in the Department of Transportation building, exact location to be published in the Federal Register at least one week in advance.
DOT officials hope to publish the agenda in March, depending on the number and breadth of comments received in the first 30 days, a DOT spokesman said.
“Improving, eliminating and prioritizing regulations all are important tasks for the Department,” Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta said in a news release. “Making regulations simpler, more effective, and less burdensome is a challenge that can only be met if the public participates.”
