Diesel price continues slide

The price of on-road diesel continued to slide last week across the nation, averaging $2.463 per gallon, about seven cents less than the week before.

The price of on-road diesel continued to slide last week across the nation, averaging $2.463 per gallon, about seven cents less than the week before.

According to the Department of Energy statistics, the average price per gallon has dropped each week since mid-December when it was $2.621, or almost 16 cents more than the latest reported price.

This time last year, the price of diesel was about the same as today. On January 16, 2006, the price was reported at $2.449 per gallon, or barely more than a cent higher. The prices reported include all taxes.
