The average price of on-road diesel across the nation continued to rise last week, showing a 7-plus-cent increase at the pump as it rang up $2.626 per gallon, according to information from the Department of Energy (DOE). The cost of diesel has been on the rise since late January after declining for several months previously.
Last week's price for low sulfur diesel (LSD) topped out at $2.584 per gallon, up almost eight cents per gallon from the week before. Last week's price for ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) rose to $2.64 per gallon, an almost seven-cent increase from the week before.
DOE now provides price statistics for low sulfur diesel (LSD), diesel with sulfur content between 15 parts per million (ppm) and 500 ppm, and ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD), at 15 ppm or less. DOE is releasing the additional sulfur price information that is determined to be accurate during the transition period of LSD to ULSD.
