DesignTech International Inc's Deer Alert system for vehicles emits both ultrasonic sounds to warn off small animals and sonic sounds for deer, moose, and other large animals. These sounds sweep from ultrasonic tones to lower-pitch, audible tones to alert a range of animals to the presence of a moving vehicle. Unlike wind-activated devices, Deer Alert works at any speed, has a range of up to 2,000 feet, and can be turned on or off. Its speaker will not clog with bugs or road debris that make wind-activated deer whistles inoperable.

Installation of Deer Alert on any vehicle requires three wire connections. Since Deer Alert is mounted in the engine compartment of a vehicle, it does not affect vehicle appearance and won't get ripped off in car washes. A rotating speaker allows the user to direct the sound output in the optimal direction (usually straight in front of the vehicle).
