The Detroit MI Regional Chamber is encouraging commercial and passenger traffic to use the following tips to expedite border traffic and help reduce delays.
All drivers should have their I.D. ready. It is recommended that drivers have two pieces of identification ready. A passport, birth certificate and photo I.D. are the best possible choices to satisfy inspectors on both sides of the border.
Commercial vehicles must turn on interior cab lights and open all interior drapes/blinds to sleeper area for easy inspection.
All vehicles should stay in designated lanes (i.e., cars stay to the left, trucks stay to the right). Medical personnel should check with department heads on special border crossing programs.
"Detroit and Windsor area businesses rely on passenger and commercial traffic to survive," said Chamber President and CEO Richard E. Blouse Jr., CCE. "The quicker we can reduce these delays, the quicker we can get back to a more normal way of doing business."
