The House Subcommittee on Economic Security, Infrastructure Protection, and Cybersecurity are conducting hearings to review the effectiveness of current policies and procedures for conducting background checks on drivers who handle hazardous materials, according to the subcommittee's information.
The agenda calls for committee members to evaluate the impact of the current regulations on the trucking industry, and assess proposals to improve the program by targeting high risk hazardous materials.
Scheduled to testify are officials from the American Trucking Associations, Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Institute of Makers of Explosives, American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators and the Brotherhood of Teamsters. The hearings were scheduled to begin November 1.
