Motor carriers participating in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Truck Manifest Test, and electing to use ACE-qualified third parties to submit electronic manifest information to the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), are no longer required to have ACE portal accounts.
The information was published March 15 in the Federal Register as a general notice by the Department of Homeland Security. Motor carriers without ACE portal accounts, while participating in the test of the ACE truck manifest system, may now use third parties (such as customs brokers or other motor carriers) with ACE portal accounts to electronically transmit truck manifest information via the ACE portal on their behalf.
The notice is effective March 15, 2007.
