The procurement agency of the Canadian government has issued long-term standing offers for the supply of trucks, truck bodies, and equipment to Sterling Truck Corp and Western Star Trucks Inc. Standing offers from Public Works and Government Services Canada cover supply of Class 8 trucks and equipment to all federal agencies of the government of Canada.

The supply contract was competitively bid and covers specifications of many heavy-truck requirements for the next five years, with potential annual vehicle procurements anticipated to reach $10 million Canadian or higher. Trucks will be built at either the Sterling plant in St Thomas, Ontario, or the Western Star plant in Kelowna, British Columbia. Bodies and equipment will be provided by various Canadian suppliers.

Trucks for these long-term offers will range from general purpose 4×2 vehicles with flat decks and van bodies to specialized 6×6 all-wheel-drives capable of accepting custom application, purpose-built bodies.
