President George W Bush intends to nominate Kimberly Terese Nelson to be the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assistant administrator for environmental information. In this position, she would be the EPA's chief information officer with responsibility for information collection, analysis, and dissemination — including the Toxics Release Inventory — and management of the agency's computer operations. Nelson currently is executive deputy secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, in which she has also served as director of program integration and effectiveness and as chief information officer.
