Bulkmatic Transport Company, Griffith IN, has been named by Norfolk Southern Railway Company, Norfolk VA, to operate the railroad's terminal operations in Buffalo NY.

"Bulkmatic has a reputation for quality service and experience gained through running 13 other TBT facilities across the Norfolk Southern system," said Mike Webb, manager of Norfolk Southern's new supply chain and distribution services group based in Norfolk. "The equipment and services provided by the new operator will enable shippers to increase distribution in the Buffalo area as well as throughout the Northeast and Canada, improve terminal processes and enhance inventory control systems."

Bulkmatic offers a menu of value-added services such as packaging, warehousing and purity controls.

The Buffalo TBT facility has 87 car spots with three tracks for food products and two tracks for chemicals and forest products. The facility features complete paving, security, full fencing, lighting, 24-hour access, full-time personnel, a steam boiler for product heating, truck scale, a two-bay truck wash, and a trailer dryer. All TBT facilities are open facilities and allow haulage by qualified motor carriers.

"This facility meets all required standards for handling food-grade products as well as plastic pellets," said Larry Smith, Bulkmatic senior vice president of Sales. "Transfers are done by air, pump or machine, depending on shippers' requirements."

The Buffalo TBT terminal is located at 50 Bison Parkway and has convenient access to Interstate 90.
