Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, Elyria OH, plans operation of a new foundation brake production facility slated for fourth quarter 2007.

Foundation drum brake (S-Cam) production will move from its current location at a Dana Corp facility in Glasgow KY. Air disc brake production will be transitioned from a Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC facility in Frankfort Ky. The location for the new brake facility has not yet been finalized, although the company is evaluating sites in both Kentucky and Tennessee, within commuting distance of Glasgow.

Bendix also announced its Frankfort facility, which also manufactures air compressors, is anticipated to shut down operation by late 2007. The Frankfort facility produces compressors that are used in commercial vehicle braking systems. Compressor production will be moved to an existing Bendix facility in Acuna, Mexico, that currently manufactures other components used within a vehicle’s air charging system.
