The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has begun a one-day national advertising campaign featuring a 1942 reprint of a post-Pearl Harbor ad that ATA ran nationally 60 years ago.

In the 2002 ad, David G McCorkle of McCorkle Truck lines, Oklahoma City OK, and ATA chairman, and William J Canary, ATA president, issue "A Continued Promise for a Safer America" and give their word that "the men and women of America's trucking industry pledge to do their part to keep America safe and secure for all." The ad will run in USA Today, the Washington Post, Roll Call, and the Washington DC-metro edition of Newsweek magazine.

The original ad features a truck driver under the headline "They'll Never Bomb Us Out," pledging "trucks will always get through!"
