ARVINMERITOR introduced two new lines of aftermarket shock absorbers for Mexico's commercial vehicle market. Designed to be equivalent to original equipment, the shocks were unveiled November 15-17 at Expo Transporte 2000 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Designed for use with heavy trucks, buses, and trailers, the new shock absorbers were available at the beginning of January. Distribution is through Distribuidora Meritor del Norte SA (DIMNSA) and Refaccionaria Camionera de Occidente SA de CV (RECOSA).

The shocks are available in two versions - Fleetline and GasSLX. The Fleetline family consists of the Series 83000 for front suspensions of trucks, the Series 85000/85300 for air suspensions on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, and the Series 85700 for trucks and buses in severe service.

The GasSLX, or Series 89000, is the only three-position adjustable shock absorber on the market today for heavy-duty trucks in Mexico, according to Tom Gosnell, ArvinMeritor president of aftermarket parts sales.

MeritorWABCO Vehicle Control Systems also announced during the truck show that the new Easy-Stop antilock braking system for trailers is now available in Mexico. The system uses Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology and was introduced in the United States earlier in 2000.
