TRUCKING issues that influence a carrier's operation include customer service requirements, driver recruitment and retention, and fuel costs. But, having the appropriate electronic tools to address those factors can offset and ameliorate the situation, said Tom Weiss, TMW Systems board chairman.

“The main issues continue to be constant and the same,” he said during the annual TMW User Group and Vendor Showcase October 22-25 in Chicago IL, pointing out that predicting future problems is difficult. “You have to pay attention to the issues every day and work to control them.”

Weiss told the 875 attendees representing 270 transportation companies that brokerage and intermodal services are quickly becoming essential to trucking operations. “They will become more of a necessity for you,” he said.

The 2007 TMW User Group and Vendor Showcase is scheduled September 16-19th at the Marriott World Center, Orlando, Florida.
