THE 24TH annual International Operating Conference and Trade Show of the Independent Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA) scheduled June 14-17 in Houston, Texas, is expected to attract 3,000 people to its exhibitor floor.
The meeting will be held at the downtown George R Brown Convention Center and Hilton Americas Hotel, a move from many years at the Adams Mark Hotel in the western sector of the city. Growth in the number of exhibitors and attendees prompted the change to the convention center where extensive space is available.
The trade show focuses specifically on products, services, and technology important to owners and operators of bulk liquid terminals, aboveground storage tanks, and pipeline facilities.
Seminars are designed to provide information on subjects that include regulations, operations, and technology — all tailored for terminal operators, environmental and safety professionals, safety professionals, security managers, pipeline operators, and maintenance engineers.
Keynote session
The keynote session on June 14 features Jerry Thompson, chief operating office, CITGO Petroleum Corp. He will offer a perspective into the technical and operational challenges pipeline and terminal facilities face, including more stringent specifications on gasoline, diesel fuel, and passenger car motor oil. The cost and schedule impacts, as well as how the industry will cope with these issues, will be discussed in the presentation. Alternative fueled vehicles and their potential impact on the refining industry will also be discussed.
On June 15, the featured speaker, Daniel F Gilligan, president, Petroleum Marketers Association of America, will discuss new regulatory burdens, constantly changing fuel specifications, and increased competitive pressures.
He will also address the major structural changes now occurring in the downstream market and the implications for the terminaling industry.
