Ventura Transfer adds 30 railspots at Carson Location

Nov 28, 2006 5:18 PM

Ventura Transfer Company (VTC), a specialist in the transloading and distribution of bulk products shipped throughout the United States, announced that construction will be complete in mid-December on 30 new rail spots for the storage of hazardous material shipped on the Union Pacific Railroad at its Carson facility in Los Angeles CA.

This brings the total number of rail spots to 50--all dedicated to the transloading and storage of hazardous material. At a cost of $1 million, the facility will offer state-of-the-art security, 24 hour lighting, and an onsite emergency response team available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Customers and railroads will benefit from the greater efficiency VTC’s Carson facility offers. Many VTC customers, particularly in the Gulf Coast and Northeast, are finding it more economical to ship products by rail and transload their materials rather than ship by truck. The Carson facility’s increased capacity will help reduce distribution delays for customers.
