environmental policy statement

Apr 28, 2010 9:59 AM

Greg Hewitt, president of Heil Trailer International (HTI), signed a historic policy statement for the company’s Environmental Management System on the heels of Earth Day 2010. HTI has always met or exceeded the requirements of relevant environmental laws and regulations, today’s signing only reinforces and formalizes HTI’s commitment to set new environmental standards of excellence in the industry.

“We recognize our responsibility to conduct our operations as a good global citizen in providing our customers with high-quality products and services that are not harmful to our employees or the environment. Our policy is to be a responsible corporate citizen wherever we operate by protecting our personnel, surroundings, and achieving sustainability through responsible health, safety, and environmental management and performance,” said Hewitt.

In order to accomplish this, HTI is moving toward an ambitious formal environmental and health & safety management system at all facilities to be certified to ISO Standard 14001 (Environmental) and ISO Standard 18001 (Health & Safety) by late 2011. Most of HTI’s facilities are already certified to ISO Standard 9001 (Quality), and HTI’s Argentina facility is already certified to the ISO Standard 14001.
