Air1 reaches 250 million gallons in sales

Jan 1, 2011 12:00 PM

Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) producer Yara achieved the 250-million-gallon sales mark in November 2010. Its brand for DEF, Air1, is now present in more than 50 countries with deliveries across five continents.

Growth of Air1 is driven by evolving environmental emission regulations first introduced in Europe in 2006. These regulations were then followed by the more stringent North American emission levels set forth by the EPA 2010 Clean Air Act. Yara participated in setting the DEF production quality standards now established worldwide.

Used in conjunction with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) engine technology, DEF chemically adjusts harmful nitrogen oxide emissions, releasing harmless nitrogen and steam into the atmosphere instead.
